Dazzling White

The locals take great pride in their pueblos blancos—the iconic white villages. Your cycling journey begins in Ronda, where a dramatic bridge spans the Tajo Gorge. From here, you’ll ride through one photogenic village after another. Thanks to your e-bike, the hilly to mountainous terrain is surprisingly easy to handle.

Bandit Country

At times, the landscape feels wild and untamed, like the stubbled jaw of a rogue bandit—especially near Zahara de la Sierra. Long ago, the Moors called this land Al-Andalus, or “land of the Vandals.” Ronda and its neighboring villages were once notorious bandit hideouts. Today, the only thing you’ll encounter on these quiet country roads is peace and quiet. It’s the perfect setting for a relaxed ride, especially as you cruise along a fairytale-like road winding through a spectacular canyon.

Time Stands Still

In these villages, where a fresh coat of white paint is always at the ready and bright geraniums add splashes of color, time seems to stand still. In places like Olvera, Zahara, and Grazalema, you park your e-bike in a quiet square and take a moment to wander. Breathe in the scent of ancient olive trees, listen to the gentle trickle of a fountain, and find a shady terrace to relax. Order a café con hielo—coffee with sugar, served alongside a glass filled with ice. Pour it over, and voilà: the perfect iced coffee to savor the moment.

Ronda: Stunning and Elevated

The El Tajo Gorge dramatically splits the town in two, with white houses perched precariously on the edge of its sheer cliffs. Ronda’s two main districts—Mercadillo (the market area) and La Ciudad (the old town)—are connected by the town’s iconic landmark: the Puente Nuevo. A bit further on, you’ll find the Plaza de Toros. This 18th-century bullring is part of the Museo Taurino, which explores Ronda’s deep connection to bullfighting. Don’t miss the chance to snap a selfie at the Balcón del Coño, a viewpoint hanging high above the gorge. The views? Absolutely breathtaking.
