Top-notch Romance

As the evening sun casts a red-orange glow over the landscape, the contours of the fairy-tale castle Neuschwanstein stand out even more against the surrounding mountain peaks. King Ludwig II spent his childhood just a stone's throw away at Hohenschwangau Castle. Even then, he dreamed of fairy tales and castles. Later, the young king commissioned the construction of the impressive Neuschwanstein.

Royal Tours
You’ll visit these castles during one of the royal tours from Hopfen am See. On other days, you’ll cycle around the Forggensee and the beautiful Weißensee. You’ll also visit the romantic village of Füssen, cross the border into Austria, and “climb” the Allgäuer Alpine meadows. The bus will also take you to Steingaden, a village that grew around a monastery with an impressive monastery church. From there, you’ll return part of the way along the "Romantic Road."

Inspiration for Disney

The unique location on a steep rock above the Pöllat Gorge could not have been more majestic. Pure romance for the fairy-tale castle Neuschwanstein. It inspired the makers of Disney films so much that the castle in Sleeping Beauty was an exact copy of this dwelling. The interior is just as impressive, and King Ludwig II based it on German knightly legends and the musical world of his favorite composer, Richard Wagner. There's even a real cave recreated in the palace. And the 15-meter-high throne room, gilded in gold? It was never used!

Heartthrob Füssen

The German town of Füssen also contributes to the romantic atmosphere. In this Bavarian city, close to Austria, romance drips from the colorful facades. Add to that the idyllic location, the beautiful lakes in the area, the backdrop of towering mountain peaks, and the gently babbling Lech River, and you’ll understand why this town melts so many hearts. Dive into a café in the old town and enjoy a cup of Kaffee und Kuchen.

During the cycling arrangement, you will stay at Residenz Hopfensee in a one-room apartment for two persons, equipped with a kitchenette. From the balcony with its own terrace, you have a beautiful panorama view over the Hopfensee and the mountains. Alternatively, you can choose a two-room apartment located a little further away.
