Wonderful Cycling, Delicious Dining

"Beautiful hotel. In the restaurant, we were pampered with exquisite cuisine by master chef Jean Philippe. We had an amazing dinner." This review from a guest highlights that dining in Osthouse is truly a treat. Your base during this culinary cycling holiday is located in the flat valley of the Rhine, in the heart of the French Alsace.

High Praise in Gault Millau

The small-scale hotel is set in and around a stylishly restored half-timbered farmhouse. During the day, you’ll take cycling trips from Osthouse to places like Strasbourg and the charming towns of Obernai, Barr, Sélestat, and Ebersmunster. You’ll also visit the Rhine and the town of Lahr. Osthouse itself features beautiful, authentic half-timbered houses, as well as a 16th-century water castle. The restaurant where you’ll dine received 13 out of 20 points in the Gault Millau guide.

Picturesque Obernai

An ancient city wall surrounds the historic center of this charming town. Thanks to the harmonious blend of Renaissance and medieval half-timbered houses, the town ranks high on the "most beautiful postcard" list. It’s a delightful place to stroll through the narrow streets, searching for the town hall, the 13th-century belfry, and the Renaissance-style well with six buckets, dating back to 1579.

The Best of Both Worlds

Entirely French, yet with a touch of German. Over time, the people of Alsace frequently switched nationalities, without ever moving. At times it belonged to Germany, at other times to France. As a result, the region now offers the best of both worlds. From charming villages with photogenic half-timbered houses to breathtaking vineyards where you can buy a bottle of Riesling for the evening in your hotel room—or to take home.
